Anthony Pickens, Intern
I have always enjoyed being with people. In my adolescent years. I found myself needing the comfort of others as I walked through some of the darkest moments of my life working through rejection, shame, depression and loneliness. Having experienced these, I see the need for those who find themselves in similar places today.
I’m currently a graduate student at Covenant Seminary, studying counseling because I believe it is a tool God can use to heal. I desire to comfort others in the same way I have been comforted by the counselors God has sent in my life. I have a year of experience working with adolescents at a group home. I have also spent 2 years working at a residential home for the mentally disabled. I love working with children, adolescents, young adults in life transition and people battling through feelings of shame, depression and loneliness. Though still in the process of learning, I’ve seen how my place of weakness can be a blessing for my clients. Humility goes a long way towards building a strong therapeutic relationship and I hope to serve my clients to the best of my capabilities.
