Reflections From Spain

An experience of opposites – exciting and exhausting; the rich warm fellowship of co-laborers for Christ and entering into the cold realities of pain and brokenness; expecting to serve and yet being treated like a guest at the head table.  These juxtapositions summarize my experience in Spain.  It was such an intense week that my mind is still processing all that I experienced.

The moments that seemed like a small drop of honey on my tongue and a tiny foretaste of what heaven might be like included being led in songs of praise and worship followed by the teaching of God’s word from Scotty Smith with 300 adults – missionaries, Serge staff, and Board members.  The Holy Spirit bonded our group of counselors in ways I never could have anticipated and guided our work as we met daily to pray.

It is always a privilege to walk with someone in a counseling relationship and meeting with missionaries, sometimes for only one hour, to share in their work, pain, joys, and challenges opened my eyes to all that God is doing in our world – even in the midst of tremendous pain and suffering.  I will continue to pray for each missionary I had the privilege of meeting with as they labor for Christ.  The King is on the move!

Ephesians 3: 17-19

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
